Being it recycling at home, buying from companies that are eco-responsible, use recycled office supplies, stickers printed on recycled paper using soy ink, The list goes on and on. As far as skateboarding goes, it’s huge. We use a lot of wood in this industry. Ramps, boards, etc… When we build the ramps, let’s get wood that is certified as non ancient forest, let’s try to develop some bamboo boards, or hemp boards, something. Bob Burnquist on eco-responsibilty and how does it effect skateboarding.
A healthy diet is important for the way you feel. There is so much that goes into our body unchecked when you don’t pay attention or don’t care. Think about your body as the most important instrument you own. Wouldn’t you want to take care of it? You have to take care of yourself materially to be able to feel good and elevate yourself spiritually. And on a planetary sense, what we eat affects someone somewhere. We buy everything. Even our water, where you buy those things from makes a difference.

When someone like Bob, Mat Hoffman or Michael Jordan enter a sport, or a Gandhi or Martin Luther king enter our social paradigm it forces evolution and the rest of us are left with only 3 choices, lead,follow or get out of the way. Burnquist Organics started from when I owned the restaurant. My neighbor was moving to Hawaii and was selling his vacant land. At a Fathers day meeting, Burnquist Organics was born. The Restaurant was a Vegetarian and Seafood Kitchen and was open from 2000 to the begining of 2002. We grew about 70% of the Organic vegetables that the Restaurant used. Today it’s beyond just growing organic food. It’s about products that have a reason to be.

If you don't feel like blank boards are helping the industry, don't buy any blank boards -- even though it might hurt your pocket a little bit. Just like buying organic food, it's a little bit more, but it's definitely better for the environment. Just like buying recycled is competitive, maybe a little more, but it's better for the environment. And so you just try not to weigh out everything in money, but in values that are hidden in the back and you've got to think to see it.
